Dearest Maggie,
What light upon yonder Daisy Cottage window breaks? Maggie, you are the east and I am the sun. I found this in a book in the Katillac Shack library...I have no idea what it means. But, anyway, I long to walk with you along the beach…fetch a stick together.....chew a shoe....and then watch re-runs of Seinfeld...and nuzzle the night away. Forgive me...I have been forward. Jane Austen would say "Impertinent and ungentlemanly." Maggie, your sweet and delicate countenance is as lovely as these flowers. I am sure you are equally as fragrant and sniffable. I gaze with hope at your radiant visage in your mother's room in the preceding post. Won't you consider me as your suitor? I am slain and made helpless until you respond. I await your fair condescension.....and noble judgment.
Oliver Wendell

Oh my - he is ADORABLE! I have to be a bit quiet typing this - I have a basset in bed with me (Cooper) and one on the floor next to me (Floyd) and they tend to be just a bit jealous...
Further more, they have not found a girlfriend yet, but I'm sure they would want to give her flowers like Oliver Wendell. Perhaps they would even want to share their treats!
Thanks for sharing.

Maggie is wearing pink, red and yellow. She is so beautiful. My little Nugget, a two year old long-haired daschund is madly in love with Maggie! He wrote a letter to her too. I hope she keeps an open mind about her future! A girl can never have too many collars or too many boyfriends!

Even though I've already posted one comment. I must
tell you about our 5 wonderful rescues. First of all,
there is our Maggie, the sweetest little girl in the world.
Our daughter rescued her after seeing her thrown from
a truck in the country. She had so many ticks that she
was anemic and had to be given anethesia to remove all
the ticks. She has been the sweetest dog we have ever
had. Next, is our very own bassett, Wilbur. We rescued
him and he had to be treated for heartworms twice. Aren't
bassetts the funniest dogs on the planet?? Oh, and have
to be the most STUBBORN!!! We rescued our rat terrier,
Katie, when she was a very young puppy. She had a broken
hip compliments of her former owners. She is doing great
in spite of being slightly crippled. In fact, she can
outrun our border collie, Baylee. Baylee was left tied
to a tree without food or water when her owners moved
away.....they also, apparently, didn't like her beautiful
"border collie" tail because they cut hers off to a short
nub. She and Wilbur compete for who is the funniest. She
is now in agility trials with our daughter (her owner that
worships the ground this dog walks on). They are doing
quite well and have many ribbons. Baylee is a very lucky
girl and shows us every day how grateful she is. Last but
not least is Ruby, our rescued golden retriever/ mix that
was adopted from a dog pound in Mississippi. The dog pound
was so filthy and a few weeks after we got Ruby all of the
remaining dogs/puppies had to be euthanized due to parvo or
some other virus spread throughout the entire facility.
That is our entire menagerie....more like a petting zoo!!
Of course I didn't mention our 3 rescued kitties but that is
another story. Oliver, I hope you and Miss Maggie get to
visit soon. If you and Maggie don't work out, remember I have
some real beauties, too.

Oh, Mr. Oliver Wendell....you are quite the handsome
boy! I was visiting Daisy Cottage and saw that you
are romancing sweet little Maggie. She is pretty
adorable so I can see why you would want to have
her for your "girlfriend." However, I, too, have
a sweet little Maggie. Perhaps Oliver Wendell you
would like to meet her as well. LOL! Too cute! I
hope that you and Maggie will keep us posted on your
budding romance!

The fun flowers are red, pink and yellow. Not one but two recycle dogs, actually rescue dogs. As a military family we move quite often and the one constant to our children are the dogs. Rocky, a schnauzer and Bo, a lab.

Puppy love, so sweet!!
Maggies collar has pink, red and yellow.
I had a dog, I lost her this past July. Gretel was just 2 weeks shy of 2 years old. A beautiful Black Lab with just a touch of Chow thrown in. The sweetest girl ever and my constant companion. I want another but I'm so afraid to fall in love and risk the loss again...crazy, I know.

What a sweet romance! Maggie is wearing a color with a pink, red, and yellow flower on it.
I have a darling dog-boy named Willie. Willie is a German Shorthair Pointer. He just turned 11, but most of time still acts like a puppy. He is almost solid chocolate brown, with a snowy white bib and one white paw.

We all love Maggie, of course!

I love this little romance. Maggie has been such a sweetheart. Oliver is blest that she looks upon him. He is quite the gentleman, I am sure they will be so cute together. Maggie's red scarf has white daisy flowers with yellow centers. The flowers (yellow, red & pink) that Oliver is looking at must remind him of the flowers and her sweet look.
My fiance (God rest his soul) and I had a Akita/Chou chou/? mix all black with a bit of white here and there -- one wag of the tail and every thing was wiped off the coffee table -- named Yogi Bear. Yogi loved children (which goes against the breed) and when he grew bigger, I still have pictures, he still thought he could be a lap dog. ((Hugs)) Jan

I just love this puppy love! Oh, Yes! Can hardly wait for Miss Maggie's reply. Miss Maggie's pretty collar is red, yellow, and pink.
Currently, I do not have a dog, but I am blessed to enjoy my neighbor's two little dogs, Sally and Suzie. She calls them her "children" and their "step-brother" is the cat named Skeeter.
Blessings,
Hattie

I do not have a doggie story to tell you, as I do not have a doggie at this time. I am blessed with my neighbor's two little dogs, Sally and Suzie. My neighbor always refers to them as her "children" and they have a "step-brother", a cat named Skeeter.
I sooo look forward to Miss Maggie's reply to Oliver's letter. I just love it!!! And those pretty flowers on Miss Maggie's collar are red, yellow, and pink.

Hello Shacksters!!!
Shackster: One who who is authentic, creative, kind and resourceful. Most often found hanging out at The Katillac Shack!
Dear hearts...yes, that is all of you who share them with your beloved dog-kids and cat-kids....and like Elizabeth Brown...llama and horse-kids...and all other beautiful creatures! They DO keep our hearts open don't they?
Mary Kate--the boxer--formerly a puppy mill mom--and now the darling of Randee's life. Free at last..free at last....
and Joanne Peck who's heart is bigger than NYC with five who needed her.
And each and ALL of you....I appreciate you and thank-you on behalf of your cuddly ones. DI calls them second -hand dogs those saved from cruelty and homelessness...we are recyclers aren't we?
But, when has anything or anyone ever given so much in love nd acceptance and asked so little?
No make-up, no roots dyed, no teeth-brushed, no leg-shaving, no worry about clothes washing or dish doing, no political guidelines, no time card to punch, no family nit-picking crap, no measuring and score keeping-- just love me and be kind. And, even if you don't I will keep loving you!
DOG is another way of knowing GOD! And this is way beyond human religious rules. It is just daily, simple truth. A chance to give and receive the most essential tender kindness and compassion.
Don't you think?
love, kelee

We have 2 dogs.. both rotties and their names are Missy and Handsome (because he is) There's a dog that visits our vet's office and her name is Lovely... because she is. Both Handsome and Missy are dogs we saved from our local SPCAs. Second-hand dogs are the new black., um, or gray or brown... white perhaps... *giggles.
