There always seems to be a lot of questions and confusion about color schemes. In my 20 years as a pro designer I have worked with individuals as well as corporations to create inspiring and personal environments filled with color. One of my favorite projects was with a healthcare company called Enturia. I hosted an upper management workshop to deduce their personal colors and values. Then, I took the individual choices and wove them together–like a patchwork quilt–to create the color scheme for the whole 50,000 sq.ft. facility. Above you see a vignette in the entry lobby of the space. The patchwork drapery fabric does indeed contain their individual color choices! This process works as well for a family as it does a corporation. Simply make your color choices and put them together for the basic palette. Add some neutrals to bind it. In this area the oyster white serves as the thread that holds it all together. I find that off-white or a light camel or wheat keeps it fresh and adds relief to a muit-colored space. The club chairs and loveseat are from Kravet.

We once bought a house that needed major renovations. It was 1999 and it was built in 1980 and had the original carpet (brown shag) and most of the walls were off white (the white with brown in it that made the walls look dirty). The woman we bought the house from had major depression and I KNOW that some of it came from the colors in that house. We ripped out the carpet, painted the walls yellow, all the trim a bright white and you could just tell that house was so much happier. When the former owner came by to see what we'd done she sat on the steps and cried. She kept saying, "I had no idea." So I am a bright and shiny kind of girl. That episode convinced me that our environment affects our lives more than some of us realize. Mimi

I love cream colors because you can accesorize with other colors and it give you a vintage feeling as well.

My hubby and I each moved straight from our parent's to our "starter" home. That was 9 years and 4 kids (singleton and TRIPLETS) ago. We still live in the same home and since having triplets, I now stay home, so we'll be living here a long time, which means I NEED to find thrifty ways to make our home homey and more coordinated! To this day, we still do not have a headboard!! We NEED this!! We have navy blue carpet, so I tend to accessorize with golds and ivories to brighten things up.
Pick me! Pick me!

I have always used a lot of blue in decorating. I am not sure why I am drawn to blue. It just seems right.

What a terrific give-away. I've always loved a dark palette, like dark plums and browns.

The color scheme in my home are more earth tones; brick red, greens, tans, mustard, paprika (starting to sound like a recipe) except for my kids' rooms. There we are bright and colorful.

Earth tones. Shades of greens (olive to sage), rusts, accents of off white and golds, orchere with a pop of red at times. I like the home to flow with a color scheme. No two rooms look the same to me but it feels harmonious. So I have tried to merge my love of the tropics with my husbands love of outdoors. Michigan meet Florida if you will. Casual elegance was my goal. And our furniture ranges from contemary to traditional. I used to call the style of decorating early divorce... his stuff and my stuff. So after ten years we are getting some of our stuff. One of our first redo's was the bedroom bedding. It has to be made fresh and new for a new start. I went with custom duponi silk curtains in that greenish gold color and a lovely linen duvett and schames. Love it! There is no head board but a very large piece of art work by Cheri Blum. Then she got all popular and her work was everywhere. Not my favorite thing to happen but good for her. So that is a little about us.

I am currently gathering ideas for my master bedroom. I have the same color throughout my house. I love a look that that flows from room to room. All my wall are different shades of camel with white trim throughout the house. The colors I have used in my furniture fabrics and draperies are moss green, gold and brick red. I have also added a few pieces of black furniture. I find that this color combination of warm tones makes makes my house warm and inviting. A perfect place for my family all to gather!

The color scheme in my home mostly is of darker and lighter tones of tan with white trim. But I took a bold step in my guest/office with painting the Deep Orange walls in Autumn Leaves(i think)from S.W very similar to the main wall on the model picture with white trim and added black and gold decore and it actually lookes very good.If I do decide to switch the guest room with a different room I will take that color scheme to that room as well.

I love icy blue and brown together. It feels so tranquil and classicly beautiful at the same time. We just built a brand new home out in the country and I love making do-it-yourself projects for our home and artwork for our home. I haven't had time to make a headboard or even decorate our bedroom yet, since I started with the living room and kitchen first, but I do have a beautiful microsuede comforter set that is icy blue and brown squared. I think that an upholstered headboard would look beautiful on the back of our headboardless bed.

As an artist I love all color! But I especially gravitate towards red! Bright red, muted red, barn red, orange red and more. I have a kitchen wall painted in a paint color called Cayenne. I love it's spicy, vibrant warmth. I have green and beige walls in my livingroom, but I accent with bits of red.

Love the headboard! My fav. decor colors right now are teal (light crisp color) burnt orangy rust, browns/blacks and olive greens. found a gorgeous fabric with these colors and they match my guest bedroom which has light teal walls, white trim and black accents.

I LOVE this headboard, and have been needing one for quite awhile (like years) :) I would love to re-do our current 'crazy' mixture of patterns and colors throughout our home, to airy neutrals (soft creams, khaki, light golds, and splashes of color here and there). It will take some major patience and time, with a tight budget :) This headboard would be perfect for our bedroom...perfect place to start!! It would be a great inspiration for the rest of the room...hum..such fun!! :)

Right now I am leaning towards greyish blues. I like soft, comforting colors ...and white trim and accents. Although I can appreciate bolder colors I don't find them as soothing and peaceful.
I just found your website and love it!!

I love gold, greens, and reds. And then, I love aqua blues. In fact, I think I have every color (including pink) in my house. Going for grown up versions of COLOR.

My living room color scheme is actually similar to the room pictured above. I have chocolate & light brown, lime green, yellow, orange and cream.
That headboard is awesome!

I'm really into dark teal with brown and bright red accents right now. I love the contrast of teal walls with white trim.

Neutral colors, can't go wrong with them as they are usually colors everyone can agree on, and they are calming and easy to mix and match, this way you can also pay attention to the textures.

Each of my rooms have their own color schemes. The living room is inspired by the beach- I'm trying to decorate it as if when I look out my living room window I see the coast, not my neighbors house. Lots of white, cobalt blue, splashes of red. Refreshing, there are blacks, greys, pinks, and blues spread through out my home.
My girls need a headboard badly so thanks for the chance to win!

Our color scheme is basically brown, blue, and tan. Now if you asked my 4 year old she would say PINK. :-)

Greens, browns, and creams... loooove it!!
My husband would say "white, off-white, beige..." but that's why I decorate and he doesn't. :)
